Living with the bear

Well the last few days have been interesting around here. We have a new little ( ha, not so little I guess) buddy hanging around apparently wanting to nibble on some chicken feed. That or he knows we wouldnt let anyone hunt here other than ourselves and we dont hunt bear as neither of us like the meat.... smart black bear he is.

So, he is hanging around our property by the dogs swimming hole, needless to say, swimming in the swimming hole has stopped for now lol.

My dogs are acting a tad bizzare and perhaps weirded out by this new "pet" mum has aquired, they bark like rabid mad dogs when he is a good distance away, but when he does manage to sneak up in the direct yard and the wind is blowing just right and the dogs dont see or smell him right away, they sort of freeze in terror and just watch him once he has been spotted.

Now the descision of what do we do?? Do we insist he heads back to the bushes ( 40 acres to the tree line) by making our place the most undesirable place to hang out... or do we let someone in to do the dreaded?!?! Either way, unless he stays put right here, he is basically counting his days until he ends up dinner for someone. Bear season has recently opened here, lol, actually at the same time he started hanging around.

Well, gonna have to think about that one a bit. Definately dont want anyone to get hurt ( us or the dogs) and definately worry about if "he" is a "she" and ends up with cubs next spring, thinking this is a safe haven ( close to the house) but eventually wanders off and ends up gunned down out of season for disrupting livestock ( yup allowed to do it around here under those and a few other circumstances) in that scinario, we may end up with orphaned cubs hanging around here getting into more mischief and starving.

Anyways, we are going to co habit for the next week as best as we can, until myself and Guy can come up with a reasonable solution. Since " he" ( the bear) hasnt done a single thing wrong YET, there is no need to rush.

Well, thats it for that.

Blogging has slowed down a bit, been sorta busy, with a long weekend lived through and gone by again we were off camping at a "rusty" lake in a sand pit of sorts... it was different. Not bad but different. The only MAJOR complaint I do have about the weekend was JOHNNY CASH!!! I despise Johnny Cash.... apparently he fell into a burning ring of fire and survived to sing pointless songs that all sound exactly alike.... I was happier when the music had changed to Stompin Tom... not much of an improvement, but atleast he is funny.

Well thats all for today, no deep insight, but still a quote! Keeping my new tag along in mind.
